Elections Division

 

The Secretary of State serves as Nebraska’s chief election officer. Working with election officials in the state’s 93 counties, the Elections Division oversees election law, the conduct of elections in the state, election tabulation equipment and the state voter registration system. The division accepts candidate filings and compiles results for statewide, legislative, judicial retention and certain district elections. The division oversees filings for statewide initiative and referendum petitions.

Filing deadline for judicial officeholders to place their name on the general election ballot for retention

Last day for a non-incumbent candidate, for the general election, for an elective office specified in §49-1493, to file a statement of financial interest with the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission
Last day for a candidate, whose filing deadlines are July 15 or August 1, to withdraw their name and decline to be a candidate
Last day for a candidate nominated at the primary election, or nominated by a political party convention or committee, to decline the nomination
Last day for nonpartisan presidential candidates to file for the general election by filing with the Secretary of State an application and a petition signed by not less than 2,500 registered voters
